Request to Complete the Pension Payment Procedures for Persons Receiving their Pensions from Financial Institutions Outside Japan

Page ID:170010010-151-420-501

Last updated date:9 26 2025

Starting in 2025, international rules for foreign remittances have changed, and as a general rule, the SWIFT (BIC) code of the pension-receiving financial institution is required when sending money.
Additionally, from 2026, if you do not have a SWIFT (BIC) code, your remittance may be delayed or may not be possible.

To ensure that pension payments are securely sent to customers who do not have a registered SWIFT code, we encourage them to submit a persuasive letter providing their SWIFT (BIC) code or to change their pension-receiving financial institution to a financial institution that has a registered SWIFT (BIC) code.

Please fill in the required information, such as the financial institution’s SWIFT (BIC) code, on the “Notification of Registration (Change) of Address / Pension-receiving Financial Institution of Pension Recipient Residing Outside Japan” and submit it along with the attached documents. Instructions on how to fill out the form can be found in the example enclosed with the notification or in the “Example of entry” link below.

Please note that if you do not submit the necessary documents, it may take longer for the remittance to be sent, or the remittance may not be possible.

If you live in a country that has suspended postal delivery or if you are unable to receive mail, please download the “Notification of Registration (Change) of Address / Pension-receiving Financial Institution of Pension Recipient Residing Outside Japan” from the link below and submit it along with the attached documents to the address listed at the bottom of the page.
