Change of Bank Account
For pensioners outside of Japan
If you want to nominate or change a bank account for direct deposit of your pension benefits, you need to submit "Notification of Registration (Change) of Address/Pension-receiving Financial Institution of Pension Recipient Residing Outside Japan" to JPS.
In the report make sure to enter all information, including Bank’s SWIFT (BIC) code and location (city name,) and state (province) and city name of the pensioner’s place of residence. In principle, you can nominate a bank which has SWIFT (BIC) code.
You need to attach evidence documents such as a copy of your bank statement, checkbook or passbook which shows the bank name and your account number.
If you want to receive your pension by direct deposit in a Japanese bank, you need to submit "Report of Bank Change."
Provide a copy of evidence document such as bank statement and passbook to verify the name and account number of your bank .
You cannot receive pension benefits in Japan Post Bank YUCHO GINKO account while you live outside of Japan.
You can send the reports by post to JPS Headquarters or JPS branch office in charge of your latest residence in Japan.
For Pensioners in Japan
If you want to nominate or change a bank account for direct deposit of your pension benefits in Japan, you need to submit "Report of Bank Change."
Provide a copy of evidence document such as bank statement and passbook to prove the name and account number of your bank.
You can submit the report to your nearest JPS branch office or pension consultation center.
Change of Address
For pensioners outside of Japan
When you relocate while living outside of Japan, you need submit "Notification of Registration (Change) of Address/Pension-receiving Financial Institution of Pension Recipient Residing Outside Japan" to JPS.
When entering new address in the Report, make sure to fill in "Block number, street name, room number," "City name," "State/Province name," "Zip code," and "Country name." Enter "State/Province name" only if applicable.
If you are receiving old-age pension in a country which concludes a Tax Convention with Japan, your income tax on pension may be exempted if you apply for exemption.
Send the report by post to the JPS branch office in charge of your latest place of residence in Japan or JPS Headquarters.
For Pensioners in Japan
When you move into Japan, you need to report JPS your new address which you registered to the municipal office of your place of residence. You need to submit "Address Change Report" to your nearest JPS branch office or pension consultation center. If you want to receive letters from us to another address, you also need to submit this report.
Name Change
If you change your name, main report you need to submit to JPS is ”Report of Name Change.” With this report, you need to provide evidence documents which clarify why you chang your name, and return your Pension Certificate.
In addition, your need to submit extra report depending on cases:
- If a survivors’ pension recipient changes his/her name due to marriage or adoption*, you need to submit "Report of Eligibility-end for Survivor’s Pension" together with "Report of Name Change." It is to report that you are no longer qualified to receive survivor’s pension.
- If your name change is NOT due to marriage or adoption, i.e. returning to a maiden name, you need to submit "Report of Reason to Change Name” together with "Report of Name Change.“
* Excluding adoption by a lineal relative by blood, such as parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, or a kinship relation resulting from marriage such as parents-in-law, children-in-law
If you live in Japan, submit the report to your nearest JPS branch office or pension consultation center.
If you live outside of Japan, send the report by post to JPS Headquarters or JPS branch office in charge of your latest place of residence in Japan.
