（Ｌ）What will happen if you don’t pay the contribution?

• You may not be able to receive disability pension or survivors’ pension.

On an unexpected event like disability or death, you may not be able to receive about 830,000 yen （annual amount of Grade 2 Disability Basic Pension or Survivors’ Basic Pension for fiscal year 2025.）

• Your benefits amount will be lower. For example, if you don’t pay contribution for 12 months, your future benefits amount will be lower by as much as 20,000 yen for the rest of your life.

（Ｍ）Please note that half of your Old-age Basic Pension amount is subsidized by tax revenue.

（Ｎ）If you pay due contributions, you can receive;

- 1/2 benefits provided by contribution revenue

- 1/2 benefits matched by tax revenue

（Ｏ）If you don’t pay due contributions, you cannot receive;

- benefits amount equivalent to unpaid contribution

- benefits amount matched by tax revenue as well

（Ｐ）Difficult to pay contributions due to economic reasons?

• You may apply for exemption or payment postponement of National Pension contribution
• In case of limited income, unemployment, or discontinuation / suspension of business, leading to inability to pay contributions, you may apply for exemption or postponement for a certain period.
• Students may apply for payment postponement, a special system for students, while at school.
• You can apply electronically for those exemption / postponement systems with your smartphone or PC.
