(K)

If you don’t recover the unpaid periods;

〇 You may not be able to receive benefits in the unexpected event such as disability or death.

〇 The amount of your Old-age pension in the future will be reduced according to the period your contributions remain unpaid. For example, if you fail to pay contributions for 12 months, the benefits you receive will be reduced by about 20,000 yen per year for the rest of your life.

* The due date for contribution payments is stipulated by law as “the last day of the month following the contribution’s target month.” To ensure that your future contributions are paid without fail, please use automatic bank transmission or credit card payment. (These methods cannot be used for contributions that remain unpaid from the past.)

(L)

Difficult to pay Contributions

〇 In case of limited income, unemployment, or discontinuation / suspension of business, leading to inability to pay contributions, you may apply for exemption or postponement for a certain period.

Using your smartphone or computer, you can apply electronically for such exemption / postponement systems.

〇 Students may apply for payment postponement, a Special Payment system for Students, while at school.

* For further details, please feel free to contact the inquiry desk listed above.
